Dr. Anna Czekala was born in Poland but moved to Long Island, NY at 9 years old. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo in NY. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois. After graduating vet school, Dr Czekala completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. While there, she rotated through Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Radiology and Dermatology.
In 2010, she moved to Chicago and began working in the Emergency/Critical Care department at the Veterinary Specialty Center. She joined our practice in July 2015. Dr. Czekala is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. She has two dogs, a Pit Bull mix named Sabina and a Mastiff/Great Dane mix named Franklin.
Dr. Lauren O'Connor was born and raised in California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. She moved to Chicago in May 2009 and originally joined our practice in August 2010. After a hiatus back to California and then Ohio, she is now back with us to stay. Dr. O’Connor graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine. Dr. O’Connor has a lab/beagle mix named Lily who constantly gets into trouble. She also has three very spoiled cats, including one with special needs. Her husband’s collection of reptiles and amphibians also share her home. When she is not working, she spends her free time gardening. She’s also hiking, backpacking, and camping her way toward visiting every National Park in the US.
We offer a variety of treatment options for your pet. And, we won’t pressure you into scripted protocols. We believe a trip to the vet should be a pleasant adventure for you and your pet.
